Dear First Baptist Church Friends,
Starting this Sunday, and for the next six weeks, you have an assignment. Your assignment is simple, but it will require some discipline. And no, you will not be graded on your assignment. After all, you can’t flunk church. But I guarantee you that if you commit yourself to the assignment, you will be blessed. Here is your assignment.
I would like you to take the time, every day, to thoughtfully and prayerfully read and reflect upon the 23rd Psalm. A copy of the psalm is below. Please print it out and put it somewhere that helps remind you of your task. For the next six weeks I will be preaching about this wonderful Psalm in a sermon series entitled “Psalm 23: A Psalm for the Living." I will also be sharing ways that you might want to pray with this psalm.
Why Psalm 23? - Because this psalm has the ability to change your life, to change your attitude, and to change how you approach those around you and your God.
Sincerely, Reverened Miller
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. (Revised Standard Version)
